About the event
Kurtis Meyers is the Vice President and Curator of the Hagerstown Aviation Museum in Hagerstown, Maryland, and is one of its founders. In 1995, Kurtis, along with Dick Henson, Armand Theiblot Jr., John Seburn, Kent Mitchell, and several others, founded the museum to preserve the nearly seventy-year history of aviation manufacturing in the region. Since that day, he has been involved in helping secure the museum’s ever-expanding collection of Hagerstown-related aircraft and artifacts.
Kurtis graduated from Hood College in 1995 with a History degree and a Political Science minor. Growing up in Greencastle, PA, he remembers fondly his childhood and the constant sight and sound of Fairchild A-10’s flying overhead being tested before delivery. Out of this grew his interest in aviation and industrial history, leading to him writing, hosting, and narrating the documentary film “Hagerstown Remembering our Aviation Heritage,” which aired on Maryland Public Television. He is the author of the book of the same name.
As a historian, he has a varied interest in antiques and has written two books on that subject. His largest book, published by Trafford Publishing and covering nearly 600 pages, is a reference guide on trademarks of watches and clocks from 1870-1960. He also published a work on the art deco statuary of Arthur von Frankenburg.
